Why should I pick THIS class?

Hi, I'm Amy Peterson. I am an IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant) with a degree in education. I am co-author of the popular book Balancing Breast and Bottle: Feeding Your Baby. My co-author, a Speech Language Pathologist, and I wrote THE BOOK on how to use a bottle with a breastfed baby--the resource all other breastfeeding helpers refer to.

My inbox is full of requests for bottle feeding consults, which I will continue to fulfill, but my time is limited with 4 kids of my own(!). I can serve more moms and babies by having a virtual consult available 24-7.

Inside Beginning Bottle Feeding I share:

  • How to choose the best bottle for YOUR baby
  • How your baby paces at your breast, and how to translate this rhythm to the bottle
  • All the steps for bottle introduction, from positioning to evaluating how your baby swallows
  • How to help your baby continue to accept the bottle once you've found the right one
  • Answers to the FAQs I receive every day
  • An exclusive handout to help you navigate bottle flow

…Complete with all the videos, check lists, and handouts you need to make this fast and easy for you!

Here's what you'll get inside Beginning Bottle Feeding:

Choosing a Bottle Video & Worksheet
This video contains all of the info you need before you ever begin. It is full of photos (and videos) to show you exactly how to evaluate each aspect of your baby's latch on the bottles you try. The worksheet for this video helps you keep track of the bottles you try so you can compare which is the best for your baby. You can start with the bottles you have on hand, and I include a couple bottle suggestions that I like to try in every consult if you need to try some different shapes.

What is Pacing Video & Flow Chart
Your baby + your unique milk flow = the definition of pacing for YOUR baby. This is different for every mom and baby pair. In this video, I teach you how to observe your baby at the breast, and then how to duplicate your baby's breastfeeding pace with the bottle. The flow chart that comes with this video helps you put what you learn into practice.

Offering a Bottle Video & Checklist
Now that you have you selected a bottle that creates the best latch for your baby, AND you understand what pacing will look like for your baby, you are ready to offer the bottle. This video covers all the details that help you make the bottle feeding experience more like breastfeeding. The accompanying checklist reminds you of the important steps when give it a go.

After You Find the Right Bottle Video & Tip Sheet
Once your baby accepts the bottle happily, you want to help your baby continue to do so. This video and tip sheet covers three important steps to help your baby continue to accept the bottle.

My FAQ Handout includes the most often "when, who, which, and what-if" questions I hear from parents.

An EXCLUSIVE handout that categorizes nipples according to shape, and then lists them from slowest to fastest flow. This is a dreamy shortcut for when you like your baby’s latch on a specific shape but the flow isn’t working.

Who is Beginning Breastfeeding for?

  • Moms of young, breastfed babies who have not introduced a bottle yet.
  • Moms of exclusively bottle feeding babies who are struggling to take a bottle.
  • Moms of babies who are not yet breastfeeding, but are working toward it.
  • Expectant moms who plan to breast and bottle feed.
  • Breastfeeding helpers who want to expand their knowledge and tool kit to support the families they work with.
  • Doulas who continue to support families during the postpartum period.

All this for $17 ~ Why so low?

Because I know what it feels like to struggle with feeding your baby, and the money that gets poured into figuring it out. And if you're like many of the moms I work with, you have already spent big bank on consults elsewhere, for other issues.
This class covers one sliver of infant feeding (the bottle) AND it is non-medical in nature. It doesn't need to have a high price point.
My hope is the low price makes this easily accessible to any mom who needs this information. And if you think it's priced too low, message me for my venmo and you can leave a tip.

Other FAQs about Beginning Bottle Feeding...

Is this class the best one for me and my baby?
This class is ideal for expectant moms (remember--you can access the course again when your baby arrives), for moms of babies less than 6 weeks old (breast or bottle feeding), and for moms of babies who take a bottle and are struggling to breastfeed.

What if my baby is older than 6 weeks?
Older than 6 weeks is okay if your baby is willing to suck on a bottle. But if you have tried a bottle and your baby refuses to suck on it, a better class for you is probably Bottle Battle. In Bottle Battle, I cover some of the same basic information, but spend more time on babies who refuse to even try.

What's so magical about 6 weeks?
In my experience, 6 isn't the magic number--3 and 4 are more magical. Babies are born with a sucking reflex where they are willing to suck anything, making this the ideal time to introduce a bottle. Most 3 and 4-week old babies still have this reflex, but it slowly begins integrating at this point, making it more and more difficult for many babies to be willing to suck on a bottle. 6- weeks still works for some babies, but if you know you plan to introduce a bottle to your baby, I recommend doing so by 3-4 weeks.

What if my baby is younger than 3-4 weeks?
This class is a must for younger babies who are taking a bottle. Many babies supplement in the early days for whatever reason while they are learning to breastfeed. The information in this class will show you how to use the bottle as a tool to support breastfeeding, rather than just a feeding mechanism.

How does Beginning Bottle Feeding work?
All of the videos and handouts are held in one place. You are welcome to binge watch, but it will be most helpful to watch one video at a time, and then practice just that part before you move on to the next video. Everything is presented in short, easy to follow steps, and the information builds on itself.

How long do I have access to the videos and handouts?
You have access to this page, and any updates, for as long as you wish! Remember to bookmark it so you can find it easily.

What's your refund policy?
Due to the digital nature of this product, and the fact that you can consume the information in just a couple hours, there will be no refunds after purchase. If there are questions left unanswered, you are welcome to submit a question (which will be answered AND added to the FAQs--thanks for helping other moms). But frankly, if the suggestions in this class do not work for you, you and your baby will benefit from an in-person consult, for which I am happy to apply a discount.
